Carnival in the Algarve in 2026 will be celebrated mainly from February 14th to 17th.

Loulé Carnival (The oldest in Portugal)
This is the main event in the region, known for its political satire and elaborate floats.
Key dates: February 15, 16 and 17, 2026.
Children's Carnival: February 13th (Friday morning).
Location: Avenida José da Costa Mealha, Loulé.

Albufeira: Carnival Ball at the Albufeira Multipurpose Space (EMA) and parades in Ferreiras and Paderne.

One of the most popular parades, held by the sea, with a very family-friendly atmosphere.
Dates: February 15 and 17, 2026 (Sunday and Tuesday).
Burial of Carnival: February 18th (Ash Wednesday).
Location: Avenida Infante de Sagres (Quarteira waterfront).

Olhão (Moncarapacho): The Carnival of the "Battle of Flowers", one of the most traditional and genuine in the Algarve.

Altura Carnival (Castro Marim)
Well known in the eastern Algarve, it focuses heavily on traditional themes and local entertainment groups.
Projected dates: February 14 and 15, 2026.
Location: Avenida 24 de Junho, Altura.
Price: Usually free entry.

Portimão: Parades in the parishes and the usual parade in the riverside area of Portimão and Alvor.

A unique event where the parade takes place on the Guadiana River, in partnership with Sanlúcar de Guadiana (Spain).
Date: Weekend of February 14th and 15th.
Highlight: Boat decoration and cross-border social interaction.

The Odiáxere Carnival 2026 will take place around February 17, 2026 (Carnival Tuesday), following the date of Carnival in Portugal, with events organized by the Odiáxere Sports Club and supported by the Lagos City Council, involving parades of floats, entertainment and dances, as is tradition in the parish.
